A Rumpke waste disposal driver was the victim of a robbery and assault yesterday morning, as per company reports. The distressing incident, occurring in Cincinnati's Clifton neighborhood, involved an armed confrontation, which left the driver injured and necessitated medical attention.
Details provided by WLWT state that the robbery occurred around 6 a.m. while the driver was servicing a customer. As disclosed by Rumpke, the unidentified assailant brandished a weapon to rob and subsequently assault the driver. The worker was to quickly respond by seeking medical care at UC Medical Center but was later released that same day.
According to FOX19, the assault occurred near Vine Street and McMillian Street. Rumpke Corporate Communications Manager Molly Yeager Broadwater expressed the company's ongoing concern for the driver, stating, "The Rumpke driver sustained injuries and was transported to UC Hospital for treatment. He has since been released. Our thoughts continue to be with him."
No suspect has been identified in connection with the attack. The Cincinnati police have since investigated to unearth the events leading up to and following the assault.
