Oregon's Governor Tina Kotek has handpicked Ryan S. Joslin to serve as the District Attorney for Benton County, filling the soon-to-be vacated position by the retiring John Haroldson.
Joslin, who secured nearly the entirety of the vote—99%—in the May primary, is set to take office on September 1, according to the State of Oregon. This news comes via an announcement from the governor's office, reflecting what the people of Benton County had already overwhelmingly voiced.
In what appears to be a move to quickly ensure continuity within the District Attorney's office, Governor Kotek's appointment of Joslin aims to align closely with Benton County voters' near-unanimous preference. "Joslin will fill a vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of John Haroldson" as reported by the official statement from the governor's office. The transition is slated to go into effect with efficiency at the beginning of next month.
