
San Leandro Police Department took a significant step in a recent violent crime investigation, making an arrest in the armed robbery and shooting case at a 7-Eleven on Williams Street. As reported by the San Leandro Police Department, the incident, which occurred early on Wednesday, left a store clerk injured from a gunshot wound after being held at gunpoint.
Responding to the scene shortly after 5:15 a.m., the first officers on the scene discovered the victim in a state of distress, with a wound in their abdomen. According to the surveillance footage, the suspect had entered the 7-Eleven and, without hesitation, threatened the victim at gunpoint, discharging the firearm before escaping with an undisclosed sum of money. The victim is now stable after being transported to a local hospital.
SLPD detectives managed to follow promising leads, eventually identifying 30-year-old Anthony Craft of Oakland as the suspect. Craft was located on the 1400 block of 105th Avenue, where he was detained by police and is now facing a list of charges. The accusations include attempted homicide, robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon, on top of resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant for another robbery, as the San Leandro Police Department outlines.
