Last Saturday night, a routine traffic stop led to deputies' recovery of a stolen vehicle from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. The apprehension occurred in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood, an unincorporated area within San Mateo County. The events began when the deputies were informed of the stolen vehicle's presence at around 9 p.m.
Upon receiving the notice, numerous deputies converged in the area. They soon spotted the vehicle near the intersection of Second Ave. and Page St. A traffic stop was initiated. The driver, the car's sole occupant, was detained without any confrontations or incidents. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office reported that the suspect has been identified as Whitney N. Wiggins, a 37-year-old resident of San Leandro.
Further examination by the deputies revealed that Wiggins was in possession of narcotics at the time of arrest. Consequently, Wiggins now faces several charges, including embezzlement of a vehicle, stolen vehicle possession, and controlled substance possession. The information provided by automatic license plate reader technology played a crucial role in this case, allowing deputies to track down the stolen vehicle efficiently.
Following the investigation, Wiggins was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, facing various charges related to the stolen vehicle and narcotics found. As specified by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, the charges include CVC 10851, PC 496(d), and H&S 11377.
