A tragic collision on Highway 224 near Estacada claimed the life of a Silverton man on Saturday. The incident, involving a motorcycle and a car, resulted in the death of 71-year-old Richard Lee Detherage at the scene, as reported by KATU News.
Oregon State Police stated that the crash occurred when a 55-year-old Estacada man driving a Ford Focus attempted to make a left turn into a driveway, colliding with Detherage, who was riding a Harley Davidson in the opposite direction. According to KPTV, emergency responders attempted life-saving care, but Detherage's injuries proved fatal.
The crash, which took place around 12:38 p.m., caused substantial disruptions on the highway, with the route being affected for three hours during the investigation, as detailed by Statesman Journal.
