A tragic incident occurred on Olsen Road, just west of Hardy Lane, on Monday, when a high-speed traffic collision claimed the life of a Simi Valley resident. According to a release by the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau, the fatal event unfolded at approximately 4:26 in the afternoon.
Rushing to the scene, deputies discovered a grim tableau. After a vehicle was struck from behind in the number one lane, it hurtled out of control, slamming into a tree before spinning back onto the road. Throughout 500 feet to the west, the other vehicle involved was found, having been pushed forward by the impact. While attempting to save the driver, who initially caused the crash, paramedics and firefighters arrived promptly. Sadly, the life-saving measures would not suffice.
Emergency responders transported the two drivers involved to the hospital. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has since identified the decedent as 77-year-old Bob Frank Ferguson. Surviving the initial accident, Ferguson succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The other party, identified as 62-year-old Duc Trieu, endured the collision with moderate injuries, only to be later released following treatment.
In the aftermath of the crash, the Thousand Oaks Traffic Bureau has initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event. While the inquiry is ongoing, officials have urged potential witnesses or those with pertinent information to reach out. Senior Deputy Marcos Moreno, tasked with managing the inquest, can be contacted at (805) 494-8271 or through email at [email protected]. The bureau believes that the insights of onlookers are instrumental, providing context that mechanical evidence alone cannot convey.
