Tragedy struck early morning yesterday as two young adults lost their lives in a lethal ATV crash in Springfield. WCPO reported that first responders arrived on Ballentine Pike at approximately 12:49 a.m. to a distressing scene where an ATV had left the road and overturned after hitting a fence.
Suffering critical injuries in the early morning accident, 21-year-old residents Landon E. Overholser and Kylie E. Coffey were discovered by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). Driving the ATV, Overholser reportedly sideswiped another ATV, leading him to lose control before the crash ensued. Coffey, while taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, did not survive her injuries, as confirmed by WBNS.
The incident forced the closure of Ballentine Pike for about four hours as investigations by OSHP were ongoing, reported WHIO. Officials have discovered that Overholser, after being flown to Miami Valley Hospital, also succumbed to his injuries.
