Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a Sonic Drive-In manager on San Antonio's northwest side. The arrest, made by the US Marshals Service, targets Joshua Albert Joseph, a New Orleans native who is accused of taking part in the deadly incident which occurred in early July, as reported by KENS 5.

The situation escalated after an attempt to use counterfeit money at the Sonic restaurant by Joseph and two women. Upon being confronted about the fake currency by Daniel Shrewsbury, the 33-year-old manager, a light altercation ensued. Following the dispute, real money was exchanged for the food but not before additional money was snatched from a cup inside the venue, KSAT details the chaotic scene. Shrewsbury attempted to document the license plate of the suspects' vehicle, a move which seemingly angered Joseph.

According to San Antonio Police Department spokesperson Ximena Alvarez, an argument broke out between Shrewsbury and Joseph. The confrontation was punctuated by a chilling warning from Joseph: "You're going to get shot." Moments later, one of the women with Joseph discharged a weapon, fatally striking Shrewsbury, as stated in an interview with KENS 5. Despite retreating to the Sonic, Shrewsbury's injuries proved mortal.

Joseph, while in custody, expressed remorse for the incident. "I apologize for the actions of somebody  that happened to be with me and none of that shouldn't have happened the way it happened," Joseph told news cameras, his words sourced from KENS 5. He also indicated his lack of familiarity with the two women, stating that he was recently giving them rides as a means to support his family. While Joseph is in custody, the alleged shooter, identified as Adiah Namir Roberson, remains at large.

SAPD is actively searching for Roberson and requests that anyone with information on her whereabouts contact their Homicide Unit. The second woman present during the ordeal is currently considered a witness and has not faced charges. Notably, this is the first murder arrest for Joseph, though his criminal history includes previous charges for firearm and drug offenses, as well as aggravated robbery, according to KENS 5.
