
The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of a suspect linked to a recent homicide that occurred in Northeast Washington, DC. The incident took place on a quiet block in the Fifth District, which was abruptly disturbed by the echo of gunfire in the early hours of July 12.
Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Benning Road, at around 2:52 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Danzell Hall suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the swift response from DC Fire and EMS, Hall was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was confirmed by the authorities as Danzell Hall, a resident of Northeast, DC. The circumstances behind the shooting remain under investigation, with the police working meticulously to piece together the events that culminated in his untimely death.
On August 20, police efforts led to the apprehension of 41-year-old Michael Grayton, also a Northeast, DC resident. Grayton was caught by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and brought to the Homicide Branch where, according to a police statement from MPD, he was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated).
