The deputies had been attempting to serve Torres with an arrest warrant when he resisted and fled the scene in his vehicle, dragging a deputy through the parking lot in the process. The deputy sustained injuries, but they were deemed non-life-threatening upon treatment at a local hospital, as reported by KTLA.
Following the incident, the Ventura Police Department assumed the investigation, which culminated in the arrest of Torres in the City of Oxnard on August 14. He faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an executive officer, as per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
