Following a bank robbery at the Washington Federal Bank on Broadway Street Northeast, Salem police have made an arrest. The suspect, 63-year-old Bernardino Muniz, was confronted by the Salem Police Department's SWAT team outside of his residence shortly after the incident. According to KOIN, the authorities responded to the bank's emergency call just before 4 p.m. last Friday where employees reported Muniz had threatened a bank teller at gunpoint and demanded money.
The police investigation quickly zeroed in on Muniz, who lives around 2600 Front Street Northeast. KGW notes that the arrest occurred nearly six hours after the alleged robbery, around 9:30 p.m. During the arrest, police executed a search warrant at Muniz's home, finding evidence related to the robbery.
