Once named among the world's most evasive fugitives, Nicholas Rossi, stood before a Salt Lake City courtroom for a preliminary hearing in his rape trial on Thursday. The hearing saw testimony from just one sexual assault investigator from the Utah Department of Public Safety, where they delved into the particulars of the accusations against Rossi, as reported by FOX 13.
Nicholas Rossi, also identified by several aliases such as Nicholas Alahverdian and the concocted Irish orphan Arthur Knight, has been ordered to stand trial in Utah, a decision confirmed by a judge, as per CBS News, who continues to deny these allegations proclaiming they are "a vicious lie," in a past interview with Scottish network STV News; Rossi, purportedly, has led a complex life, growing up in foster care in Rhode Island before the alleged staging of his demise and eluding authorities.
Judge decrees, that the plethora of charges faced by Rossi, including sexual assault, harassment, and potential kidnapping in multiple states, including Rhode Island, Ohio, and Massachusetts, are substantial enough to warrant a trial, according to ABC4. The alleged criminal had previously convinced local Rhode Island media his life was being cut short due to non-Hodgkin lymphoma with only weeks to spare, a ruse seemingly coming to full circle in a falsified obituary dated February 29, 2020.
His assumed end, however, was cast into doubt as he was apprehended in a Glasgow hospital in 2021, initially there for COVID-19 treatment, but fate would play its hand when his true identity as a fugitive surfaced, as per ABC4, as they followed the developments of his extradition to the United States, further confirming the ongoing labyrinth of his legal battles and international subterfuge, Rossi contends that he has been wrongfully pegged as an American on the lam facing rape charges.
