
Early Friday morning, a flurry of law enforcement activity roused the Monroe County Justice Center in Madisonville as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and local authorities responded to an officer-involved shooting. According to a statement obtained by WATE, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident and put the TBI in charge of the inquiry.
The details surrounding the shooting remain scant. However, journalists from WVLT News were quick to make their way to the scene in search of answers. To further supplement the response, representatives from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office also signaled that their K9 unit had to quickly respond.
Meanwhile, the TBI offered a brief update, stating it was responding to the shooting around 10 a.m. Friday.
