Violence once again has struck the streets of Chicago's South Side, as two 18-year-old teens became the latest victims of gunfire. According to the Chicago Tribune, the two teenagers, a male and a female, were on the sidewalk of the 8000 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue late Thursday when assailants opened fire.
The young man suffered multiple gunshots — five in the buttocks and two in the arm — and was taken in good condition to the University of Chicago Hospital, as detailed by the Chicago Tribune. The young woman, however, was critically injured with a chest gunshot wound and was also rushed to the same hospital. The shooters who perpetrated this senseless act fled on foot, disappearing into the bowels of East 80th Street.
As of Thursday night, police informed that no one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting and that area detectives are actively investigating, as reported by CBS News.
