A Tennessee man wanted on attempted murder charges was apprehended in Maine as he allegedly attempted to cross into Canada.

Larry Wayne Cole III, 19, was taken into custody near the Canadian border in Franklin County, Maine, after border patrol agents were tipped off about a suspicious vehicle. The arrest occurred approximately 40 minutes east of Lac Mégantic, Quebec or about two hours north of the Coburn Gore Plantation. Cole is accused of stabbing his husband, Daniel Cole, at a Walmart in Gallatin, Tennessee on July 30. After the incident, he reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle with a Tennessee license plate bearing his own name, "LARRY," according to a Central Maine report.

The Gallatin Police Department informed the public of Cole's capture on Monday, stating that the suspect was found attempting to cross the border. In a release, they described the capture as resulting from "the prompt action and dedication of Border Patrol Agents," which they believe may have "prevented potential further crimes," as reported by Nashville's WSMV. The stabbing at the Walmart located on Nashville Pike had left Daniel Cole in stable condition, said the police.

Cole's arrest early Monday morning came after U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents identified him and his vehicle at the former boundary crossing. Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols noted that the vehicle in which Cole was found, was indeed the same one that "he drove away from the Gallatin Walmart," reflecting information detailed by NewsChannel5. Currently, Cole is being held at Franklin County Detention Center without bail, pending extradition to Tennessee.

As per law enforcement authorities, the case is ongoing, and the extradition process is in motion to bring Cole back to Tennessee to face charges for the severe altercation that ended in violence within the aisles of a shopping site known for its everyday low prices, but not for harboring fugitives running from the law.
