The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has stepped up its efforts to locate Maybrie Like, a 1-year-old missing under precarious circumstances from Macon County. The child was last reported seen last Friday near Long Creek Road in Lafayette, dressed in a white shirt and green shorts, triggering an endangered child alert.
Authorities are pursuing leads that link Maybrie's disappearance with Gerald Blair, a 50-year-old individual last observed wearing black athletic shorts. WSMV reported that Maybrie may be in Blair's company, who is wanted by the local sheriff's office on charges of child abuse and child neglect or endangerment. In addition to the TBI, the local sheriff's department is involved in the search.
A Facebook post from the Macon County Sheriff's Office also revealed that Blair was seen on home security footage near Long Creek Road and New Bethel Road, heightening concerns over the situation. According to a detailed description provided by the TBI, Maybrie has red hair and blue eyes and weighs 24 pounds. Blair stands at six feet tall and weighs around 160 pounds, details included in a news release from WKRN.
Community members and the general public are reminded of the urgency as the sheriff's office urges anyone with information to come forward. "If you have seen Maybrie or Blair, call the Macon County SO at 615-666-3325 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND", the TBI implores, echoing a statement obtained by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's official X.
An Endangered Child Alert has been issued on behalf of the Macon County Sheriff's Office for 1-year-old Maybrie Like.
