Fort Lauderdale's outdoor social hub, The Wharf, is set to close for renovations after its "Closing Parties" during Labor Day weekend. As reported by Local 10, the festivities will run from Thursday, Aug. 29 to Saturday, Aug. 31, before The Wharf takes a temporary hiatus to reimagine its space. The venue, which has been managed by Breakwater Hospitality Group's Emi Guerra and Alex Mantecon, is known for its vibrant atmosphere and community-oriented approach.
Since opening in 2019, The Wharf has become a staple in Fort Lauderdale's riverfront scene. Now, after Labor Day, it will undergo a transformation intended to shift its pop-up vibe towards a more fixed establishment. The announcement was made through statements by Emi Guerra that the refresh will introduce a refined coastal aesthetic and replace the food trucks with permanent venues for culinary offerings, in line with their plans to grow and adapt to the downtown's dynamic.
"We are thrilled about the future of The Wharf Fort Lauderdale," Guerra expressed in a statement to Miami New Times. The goal is to enhance the Wharf's experience by adding new bar areas, updated entertainment options, and more Instagram-worthy spots for social media enthusiasts.
Details on what precisely these renovations will entail are forthcoming, but Breakwater Hospitality Group has ensured that guests can anticipate an elevated experience following the revamp. The group responsible for the project also looks after a suite of other South Florida hospitality ventures, including PIER 5 in Bayside; Regatta Grove in Coconut Grove; JohnMartin's on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables; and Carousel Club at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.
For those wishing to bid farewell to the current incarnation of The Wharf, RSVPs for the Labor Day weekend parties are currently being accepted. The Wharf is expected to reopen its doors in late fall, reintroducing itself as a mainstay in downtown Fort Lauderdale's nightlife and community fabric.
