
Portland witnessed a tragic hit-and-run last night when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the corner of Southeast 162nd Avenue and Southeast Stark Street. According to a press release by the Portland Police Bureau, the incident took place on Saturday, August 24, at approximately 11:11 p.m. Tragically, the pedestrian died at the scene, and the driver involved did not remain at the location.
Officers from the East Precinct were swiftly on the scene following the reports of the collision. The Portland Police Bureau noted that their Major Crash Team is investigating the events leading up to the incident. For the duration of this investigation, closures are in effect on Southeast 162nd Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, creating detours in the neighborhood.
