A 13-year-old boy's life came to a tragic end after a shooting incident in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood on Sunday night. Chicago Sun-Times reports that the incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. in the 6000 block of North Kenmore Avenue, where police found the boy with a severe gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, first responders located the young victim slouched against a wall in the dining room area of an apartment, a bullet had pierced his left eye, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
He was immediately taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston in critical condition, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, as per ABC 7 Chicago.
Witnesses have hinted at the chaos and confusion that followed the shot, one recounted hearing a single gunshot and then someone yelling, "Get out!" A statement that paints a picture of panic, and perhaps, regret, that witnessed as a youth's potential was haltingly silenced, the Chicago Sun-Times elaborated. So far, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the shooting, and Area Three detectives are actively investigating the circumstances leading to this tragic outcome.
