Two individuals have been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm in Chicago. According to the Chicago Police Department, Teondre Smith and Darian Maggette, both 20 years old, faced a detention hearing on July 11, after being apprehended and charged with one felony count each.
The arrests took place following an incident that occurred on August 11 in which a 33-year-old man reported his vehicle stolen at gunpoint. Arrested in West Chicago, Teondre Smith was taken into custody at 8:17 a.m. from the 4100 block of W. Congress Pkwy. Subsequently, and significantly later on the same day, Darian Maggette was found at 12:57 p.m. on the 1100 block of S. Albany Ave., authorities reported.
Both suspects were identified as the culprits of the aforementioned carjacking that unfolded in the 3200 block of W. North Avem as per the CPD. It was the combined efforts of eyewitness accounts and police investigation that led to their apprehension and subsequent charging.
