Following an early morning tragedy in Antioch, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Efren Reynoso. In a recent update, the Antioch Police Department detailed that with help from the Stockton Police Department, both individuals implicated in the homicide were apprehended on Tuesday, following days of investigation. The update was made public yesterday and has been documented by the Antioch Police Department.
The suspects, identified by authorities, are 21-year-old Elijah Birba and 23-year-old Christopher Paez Jr. In a report obtained by the Antioch Police Department, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has moved forward with filing charges, which include Murder - 187 PC and a Special Allegation for intentional discharge of a firearm causing death - 12022.53 (d) PC.
The initial notification of the incident came from a neighbor who reported hearing gunfire in the early hours. Responding to the scene at E. 8th Street and A Street, officers from the Antioch Police discovered Reynoso. They pronounced him dead, which spurred an intense investigation, as reported by Hoodline. The police, involving Crime Scene Investigators and the Violent Crimes Unit, initially sought the public's aid in gathering information and withheld certain details to preserve the integrity of their investigation.
