
Tragedy struck Hernando, Mississippi, Sunday morning when a triple shooting resulted in two fatalities and left one woman fighting for her life. According to WREG, the Hernando Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on Mason Drive at around 8:02 a.m., where they discovered three shooting victims.
The incident, confirmed by multiple sources, occurred just east of McIngvale Road and north of Commerce Street—a usually quiet neighborhood now to suddenly confronted with the aftermath of violence. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, while another woman was taken in extremely critical condition by helicopter to Regional One Hospital, as reported by FOX13 Memphis.
Amid the investigation that is still unfolding, the HPD has assured the community that there is no immediate threat to citizens. Residents of the Creekside neighborhood have expressed profound grief over the incident, with one local, Catherine Watson, telling Action News 5, "It's very sad. I mean everyone has been affected by this in some way or the other. It’s like there is a dark cloud over the neighborhood because it is people, we all knew each other to some degree."
A man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, revealed to Action News 5 that the victims included his ex-wife and former in-laws. "I mean, you don’t know when your last day is. And I will say that if you know somebody who is struggling or needs help seek it out," mentioned Trey Gansman, a resident, in a bid to possibly reach out to anyone in distress.
