Tragedy struck on Chapel Hill Road last Friday evening as two local men were violently thrust from their motorcycles in an accident that is still under investigation. The men, aged 42 and 39, were riding their Harley Davidsons northbound in a staggered formation when the incident occurred, resulting in severe injuries, according to a statement from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Initial reports suggest that the motorcycles, a 2008 Harley Davidson Dyna and a 2006 Harley Davidson Softail, exited the roadway to the right and proceeded to careen into a ditch, causing both riders to fast become ejected. Remarkably, the vehicles did not collide with each other during the mishap. Both men were quickly transported to Northwestern Medicine in McHenry, with one later being moved to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was listed in critical condition. The second man was declared in serious but stable condition, as detailed by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the specific circumstances of the crash remains active, with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit assigned to meticulously uncover what exactly led the duo to so suddenly lose control.
