Early this morning, tragedy struck Vermont Knolls when two cars collided at 959 W Manchester Avenue, resulting in the deaths of both drivers. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the incident, designated as INC#0290, occurred at approximately 5:57 AM.
The two vehicles were so severely damaged that extensive extrication was necessary—a grim scene that unfolded as dawn broke. Fire Station 57, along with other emergency services, responded to a 9-1-1 call received at 5:03 AM. Despite their rapid response and efforts, both male drivers, estimated to be between the age of 30-45, were beyond medical help and declared deceased at the scene.
The LAFD reported that the cars had veered towards a building under construction during the accident. However, the structure sustained only minor impacts. Following the incident, the area around West Manchester Avenue was overtaken by emergency crews, and the Los Angeles Police Department (77th Division) took command to conduct the fatality investigation.

Response teams included Battalion Chief 13, several engine and rescue ambulances, and highly trained urban search and rescue personnel.
