Early yesterday morning on Winchester Road, Memphis, a pair of auto service businesses fell victim to burglaries that occurred just minutes apart. The Memphis Police Department responded to the first incident at Goodyear Auto Service, located at 6551 Winchester Road, at 1:49 a.m., as reported by Action News 5. Upon arrival, officers found the front door glass shattered and the building ransacked and vandalized, with emptied cash registers and targeted safe boxes. However, it was unclear exactly what was taken from the premises.
A mere nine minutes later, at 2:00 a.m., Memphis Police were dispatched to a burglary at Safelite AutoGlass at 6541 Winchester Road, where officers discovered a busted glass window on the left side of the building. As with the Goodyear Auto Service break-in, the interior had been thoroughly searched, cash registers emptied, and safe boxes cleaned out. Money and tools were reported as targeted items during the break-in, according to Action News 5.
The FOX13 Memphis coverage noted that the Memphis Police Department has indicated that there may be surveillance video of the Goodyear Tire burglary, although no suspect information was made available immediately. Visible signs of the break-in included the store's prominently busted front door.
Further details from WREG reveal that Memphis Police have termed this incident a "good break-in," indicating that the business did not have any security cameras installed internally or externally. Moreover, the suspects left no fingerprints behind, complicating efforts to trace those responsible for the crime.
