Haywood County became the site of a significant drug enforcement action as the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, alongside the Haywood County Sheriff's Canine Unit, executed a search warrant that resulted in the confiscation of drugs, weapons, and drug manufacturing paraphernalia. Action News 5 reports that the raid took place yesterday morning at a residence on Freedonia Road, which is near the entrance of BlueOval, an area that is now scrutinized for its proximity to crime.
During the raid, the Drug Task Force agents discovered and seized 1/4 ounce of crack cocaine and two firearms, evidence of the home's involvement in the local drug trade; they also found a container used to manufacture the crack cocaine, and scales intended for weighing and selling the substance, these items were grouped on one table when agents stormed in and took them, as reported by FOX13 Memphis.
Accounts from the scene indicated no presence of minors or non-involved parties in the house at the time of the raid, focusing law enforcement's efforts on the singular individual present who, confirmed by reports, is a previously convicted felon. This person's past criminal record heightened the severity of the charges brought against them. "The Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District, Frederick Agee is prosecuting this case", reflects the legal seriousness granted to this operation, as conveyed by WBBJTV.
