A disturbing incident unfolded in the otherwise peaceful neighborhood of Tartesso last week when a preteen issued a voicemail threat against a local elementary school. According to Buckeye police, the threat was made against a classroom at Desert Sunset Elementary School. The voicemail was left on a former teacher's phone on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The Buckeye Police Department acted promptly, and their investigation quickly led to a 12-year-old boy, who was not a student of the mentioned school. The youth was arrested on the evening of September 23, 2024, facing serious charges over the threatening voicemail. Despite the severity of the treat, it was later found to be not credible.
The Buckeye community has been reassured by local authorities who maintain a commitment to the safety of its schools. In a clear response to any who might concern for the well-being of the town's children, the Buckeye police remind residents to remain vigilant and report any school threats via their website at www.buckeyeaz.gov/crimetip.
