A 14-year-old boy was shot in a drive-by around 9 p.m. yesterday in Frayser. Four masked individuals in a red Dodge Charger opened fire on Millington Road, hitting the teen. WREG reported that following the incident, the teen was rushed to safety and medical attention, initially being taken to a fire station before being transferred to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in non-critical condition.
The Memphis Police are still investigating, searching for the masked attackers and a motive, information obtained by Action News 5 indicated there was no immediate clear reason behind the occurrence.
The night worsened when the victim, standing outside a car near Marsh Avenue and Sunrise Street, told investigators he was with two others, ages 17 and 19, when the Dodge Charger approached and opened fire on them, according to FOX13 Memphis.
Detailing the injuries sustained, the boy was hit by a gunshot between his left eye and left ear, a frightening proximity to a potentially fatal injury yet, miraculously, his condition was not considered life-threatening. The details surrounding the transportation of the injured youth to the fire station for immediate care were also given credence by witness accounts and further investigation by law enforcement who later detained the teen's two acquaintances for further investigation.
Memphis Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The victim is now recovering.
