A fatal collision on Interstate 285 in the early hours of Sunday resulted in the death of a 33-year-old woman, as well as injuries to three other individuals, reported Dunwoody police.

The accident occurred around 3:48 a.m. near the Ashford Dunwoody Road exit, where, according to FOX 5 Atlanta, a white Scion, in the process of changing lanes toward the GA 400 exit ramp, collided with a red F-250 truck entering the westbound lane the vehicles collided at the bottom of the entrance ramp which resulted in the Scion's passenger and driver becoming entrapped. Dunwoody Police Department further detailed that DeKalb Fire personnel had to extract the occupants of the Scion from their vehicle.

The passenger of the Scion was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was transported to North Fulton Hospital in stable condition, the driver of the F-250 suffered non-life-threating injuries but chose not to be taken to a medical facility, this according to information obtained by Atlanta News First. The identity of the deceased woman is withheld pending family notification, with the Dekalb Medical Examiner’s Office involved in the investigation.

While the cause of the crash remains under official investigation, preliminary assessments suggest the collision ensued as the Scion driver attempted a lane change as the F-250 was moving onto I-285. The circumstances leading up to the crash, including the speed of the vehicles and other contributing factors, are part of the ongoing investigation by the Dunwoody Police Department.
