
Yesterday, a child's routine wait for the school bus in Blount County turned into an emergency when he was struck by the very vehicle meant to carry him to school. A 6-year-old student from Carpenters Elementary School was involved in a collision with the bus on Peabody Drive, as stated by the Blount County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m., and the boy was subsequently transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to the WVLT report.
The child is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation by law enforcement. As of last night, no charges have been filed in connection to the incident. Following the accident, local attention has turned toward bus safety and the measures in place to prevent such occurrences, as reported by WATE.
