In a somber update from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the individual who died in a fatal collision on Highway 99 has been identified as Robert Blomquist, a 72-year-old resident of Sherwood. Blomquist tragically lost his life in the incident. The Sheriff's Office shared this information along with the Blomquist family's request for privacy as they navigate this devastating time. According to the official statement, the accident involved multiple vehicles and occurred near the intersection of Southwest Langer Farms Parkway and Southwest Cipole Road.
Blomquist was headed northbound on Highway 99 and, just past Langer Farms Parkway, lost control of his 2018 Audi Q7. The vehicle then careened over the median, finding itself in the face of oncoming southbound traffic, resulting in a catastrophic head-on collision with a box truck. The impact propelled the box truck into a dump truck, causing a subsequent collision.
The repercussions of the collision left the box truck’s driver with serious injuries, requiring emergency transport to a local hospital. Authorities expect the injured party to recover. Amidst the chaos, it is a relief that no further injuries were reported following the series of impacts.
