
A major gas leak in Aledo prompted an evacuation on Tuesday, as residents in several blocks were urged to leave their homes for safety. The leak was detected in the 400 Block of Pecan, 400 Block of Hillside, and all of Scenic, leading to a swift response from emergency services. As a precaution, power to the affected areas was also isolated.
Students found themselves rerouted from their usual bus journeys home, instead taken to Aledo Middle School for reunification with their families. According to the Parker County Emergency Services District 1, Aledo Methodist Church had opened its doors to offer shelter for those displaced by the incident.
As per the latest updates, specialized repair crews arrived on the scene at 6:38 PM and set to work on restoring order. It was anticipated that the required repairs would be completed by 8:00 PM that evening. Residents were advised to keep monitoring the provided online site for ongoing updates regarding the situation. Thankfully, by 8:09 PM, the all-clear was given for residents to return to their homes, although several households faced the prospect of another night without gas service until further repairs could be carried out the following day.
