A severe crash in Bethel, Ohio, last Friday evening has left an Amelia man in serious condition following a collision with an SUV while riding a "motorized bike." FOX19 reported that the incident occurred in the 100 block of W. Plane Street at around 8:20 p.m., where the SUV driver was said to be turning into a business when they collided with the bicyclist.

As the unfortunate bicyclist was riding without proper safety gear, including lights, WLWT detailed the additional challenges caused by a concurrent power outage in the village that resulted in non-operational street lights at the time of the accident. The absence of street lights draped the scene in darkness, complicating visibility for all on the road.

Despite lacking safety equipment, the man on the e-bike was transported via Air Care to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is currently listed in serious condition yet is expected to make a recovery. As for the driver of the SUV involved, FOX19 reported that they did not sustain injuries, and neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected in the crash.

Following the crash, the Bethel Police Department asks for public assistance. With an investigation actively ongoing, anyone who holds information about the incident and was struck by the SUV is urged to contact the police department at 513-734-2256, as relayed by LOCAL12.
