To keep local blood banks stocked and to provide an essential lifeline for medical facilities in need residents are invited to participate at multiple locations.
The drive kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on October 17 at the Anoka County Highway Department, with the doors staying open to potential donors until 1 p.m. Following this initial event, the Rum River Library looks to welcome donors from noon until 6 p.m. on October 21. Those dates do not work for some, the Blaine Human Service Center will be hosting another opportunity from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on October 31, a day when many celebrate by dressing in costumes and indulging in sweets, might find the altruism of blood donation a stark, yet profound contrast.
Into the colder season, Anoka County does not slow down. December 19 sees a drive at the Anoka County Government Center starting from 9:30 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m., and a return engagement at Rum River Library on December 30, again from noon until 6 p.m. Finally, the Blaine Human Service Center opens its doors once more on January 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for another day dedicated to collecting this crucial resource.
Every pint of blood can save up to three lives, and with the current need remaining consistently high, Anoka County officials hope to see a strong turnout.
