As reported on September 6th, the council has officially selected 19 residents to form the 2025 Citizens Bond Committee. According to the City of Arlington, the committee must evaluate and advocate for public infrastructure improvements, including street renovations and parks and recreational facilities. This committee's inputs will shape a bond proposal that could potentially face the electorate in May 2025.
With meetings set to run weekly every Thursday from September 12 to October 10, the committee will digest input from city departments that need capital project funding. After a thorough review, the committee is tasked with presenting its recommendations to the City Council in December. These weekly sessions, occurring from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be accessible to the citizens of Arlington, offering a transparent window into the deliberations over the city's infrastructural future.
The city is expanding its efforts to include public perspectives by announcing additional in-person and online forums. These avenues are intended to allow residents to weigh in on the proposed bond election. Accordingly, a public meeting has been slated for November 7, while an online survey will go live from November 1-10. Details regarding these events will be updated on the Citizens Bond Committee's webpage and disseminated across the city's social media outlets.
If you want to participate or share your thoughts, the city is open to hearing from you. Arlington values its infrastructure and is committed to improving it while listening to residents. As the dates approach, check the Citizens Bond Committee webpage for details on the meeting and online survey.
