Astoria has been the recent scene of tragedy as local police have disclosed that a married couple was found deceased in what is believed to be a murder-suicide. The incident unfolded near the Bayshore Apartments located at 1400 West Marine Drive. It was just before 10 a.m. yesterday when the bodies were discovered shot near their residence, as KOIN reported.
According to KGW, first responders attempted life-saving measures, but ultimately, both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. After a thorough investigation of the scene, Astoria police surmised that the husband shot his wife before turning the gun upon himself. While the police haven't released the names of the victims, they have implored the public and witnesses to refrain from discussing the identities of the involved parties on social media platforms.
In a turn of events, it was a maintenance worker who stumbled upon the scene, discovering the couple inside their apartment. This information was confirmed by Astoria Police Chief Stacy Kelly, as indicated by the coverage provided by Oregon Live.
Astoria police haven't yet signalled any motive or provided additional details surrounding the lead-up to the event, asking anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing clarity to this case.
