In the pre-dawn hours today, a burglary occurred at a business located at 572 Edgewood Ave. Atlanta Police Department officers responded to the scene after the business's alarm system was triggered at approximately 3:39 am. According to the Atlanta PD's report, upon arrival, the responding personnel encountered the key holder who had been alerted to the incident.
The officers' initial investigation has revealed that an unidentified male suspect, whose appearance was obscured by a mask and hoodie, forcibly entered the business. He performed this act of intrusion by breaching a dry wall that was adjacent to a bathroom, inadvertently causing damage to a water pipe. As a result of this action, the crime scene was left with a ruptured water pipe. The perpetrator then proceeded to pilfer a selection of clothing and handbags, the estimated value of which has not yet been disclosed.
The suspect's movements during the crime were captured by the business's surveillance system. This footage is currently under the scrutiny of investigators in the hopes that it may yield identifiable leads. Moreover, the officers on the scene successfully recovered fingerprints, suggesting the potential for additional evidence to aid in tracking down the individual responsible for the theft.
The Atlanta Police Department has indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and details surrounding the suspect and the full extent of the stolen goods remain under examination, as the authorities work to apprehend the suspect and offer some measure of assurance to local business owners concerned about property crime in the area.
