An Austell man, Alejandro Mario Bencomo Aguilar, 57, has been accused of the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl and an attempted suicide. On Friday morning, Cobb County police responded to a residence on Fringe Flower Drive where they encountered Aguilar bearing what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to a FOX 5 Atlanta report, Aguilar allegedly tried to stab himself as officers approached him.

While Aguilar was found on the ground floor of the home, the police discovered the teenage girl in the upstairs bedroom, having been shot multiple times. Despite the efforts of medical professionals who tried to revive her, she was pronounced dead. As Atlanta News First reported, Aguilar was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and is currently recuperating following surgery.
