On Labor Day, Bentwater Marina became the scene of an accident and subsequent arrests when a boat struck the Bankhead, leading to multiple charges of Boating While Intoxicated (BWI). Local authorities, including the Precinct 1 Marine Division, Fire Rescue, and Texas Parks and Wildlife, responded to the emergency. According to FOX 26 Houston, the operator of a boat involved in the crash was deemed intoxicated.
While investigating the proceedings of the unfortunate event, a jetski that was also involved, trailing behind the boat, carried an operator who faced similar charges. With alcohol seemingly steering the course of the night, both suspects were arrested. There were no reports of serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Digging into the incident further, information obtained from a post on Montgomery County Pct. 1's Facebook page provided confirmation that both individuals charged with BWI were involved in the collision at Bentwater Marina. The local emergency responders' swift action prevented what could have escalated into a more perilous situation.
The ongoing investigation by authorities will provide more details about the crash and what led to it.
