Authorities have captured a suspect wanted for a series of violent thefts targeting elders in the Boston area. Earlier today, Edwin Santo, a 22-year-old man, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia, as reported by the Boston Police Department. The Boston Police had developed intelligence on Santo's whereabouts and shared this information with federal law enforcement officials, leading to his arrest.
Santo is accused of engaging in multiple armed robberies, specifically targeting individuals over sixty. The incidents took place across various Boston districts, including Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. According to the Boston Police, these crimes were not just thefts but also included assaults—perpetrators that left the local communities in a state of distress and fear.
Following his arrest, Santo is now facing serious charges. The warrants from Roxbury District Court include two counts of armed robbery to wit firearm and assault and battery to wit firearm. Santo is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court shortly, with details of the proceedings to be revealed as justice is administered.
