Yesterday afternoon, the Citywide Drug Control Unit, backed by the Youth Violence Strike Force and local officers from the Dorchester District (C-11), arrested a man named Santo Carvajal on suspicions of drug dealing in the Uphams Corner area. The police were conducting a drug investigation, which led them to surveil Carvajal's vehicle, believed to be linked to drug transactions.
According to a press release from Boston Police, the officers watched Carvajal hand off a small plastic bag to a woman, suspected to contain crack cocaine. Post-separation from Carvajal, the woman was stopped and found with crack cocaine, and a small plastic bag of fentanyl. She was informed that she would be summoned to court. Meanwhile, Carvajal attempted to flee on foot when approached by officers but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase.
The search following Carvajal's attempted escape led to the discovery of additional drugs, specifically more crack cocaine and fentanyl, along the route he had run. Upon returning to his vehicle, the police also found larger quantities of the same substances, along with $371 in cash.
With the evidence collected, Carvajal now faces charges including "Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Distribution of Class A, and Distribution of Class B," as mentioned in the Boston Police report. He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. The exact details surrounding the arrest and information on Carvajal's legal representation were not immediately clear.
