In the early hours of last Saturday, Boston police apprehended 21-year-old Boston resident Thomm-Lee Janivier on charges of armed robbery, stemming from an incident near 139 Tremont Street, as reported by the Boston Police Department's official website.
The suspect's capture followed an emergency call placed at 3:11 AM, when a meal delivery driver was accosted and ostensibly threatened with a firearm while dropping off an order. In a vulnerable position, the driver was confronted by Janivier, who allegedly placed a hand into his waistband, simulating a gun. The suspect demanded the victim’s phone and then punched the victim as more accomplices appeared to join in, encircling him.
The delivery driver managed to escape in his vehicle, capturing footage of Janivier pursuing him on a rear camera. This evidence, along with prior encounters, led officers to positively identify the culprit.
Janivier was found with a group outside 138 Tremont Street, where officers detained him and discovered two cell phones on his person—one belonging to the robbery victim—along with a sizable bag of crack cocaine and two credit cards that did not bear his name. He was charged with armed robbery, possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs, assault and battery, and receiving stolen property. Janivier was arraigned later at Boston Municipal Court.
