According to Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the fire, which started on July 30, claimed the life of an individual whose identity is currently unknown. The human remains were discovered in the vicinity of a home on the 2600 block of Eagle Ridge Road. As the fire raged outside the town of Lyons, it swept through homes, including that of a reported missing 74-year-old male, claimed completely by conflagration.
While detectives have been following leads to locate the missing man, their attempts have not been successful thus far. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office now focuses on identifying the found remains. They have admitted to facing significant challenges due to the condition of the remains, requiring close collaboration with forensic experts and law enforcement to expedite the identification process.
There is no definitive answer to the cause of the Stone Canyon Fire, with investigators diligently sifting through evidence. The sheriff’s office affirmed that fire investigators are engaged in examining the evidence, awaiting reports that may shed light on the origin of the flames.
