The Cornerstone Worship Center, a pivotal structure in the community of Cartersville, was ravaged by fire last night, resulting in extensive damages that left the church and attached daycare center in ruins. As per FOX 5 Atlanta, Bartow County investigators are currently sifting through the aftermath to determine the cause of the fire which compromised the integrity of the building and its roof. While the official cause remains under scrutiny, the possibility of a lightning strike during a nocturnal storm has been hinted at as a potential culprit.
According to reports from Atlanta News First, the fire was a spectacle of flames bursting from the church's roof. A neighboring resident's Ring camera captured what appeared to be a lightning bolt making a direct impact on the building. "It was devastating. It was a direct hit," Senior Pastor Jeffrey Bear recounted about the cataclysm that unfolded around 10 p.m. on Thursday. The site, which also functioned as a nurturing space for young minds, signifies a considerable loss for the locality.
Despite the calamity that crumbled its physical foundation, the Cornerstone Worship Center's spirit remains unshaken. Members of the surrounding community, including churches, have banded together in a show of solidarity and support. These local congregations have graciously offered their spaces to accommodate the displaced daycare children, ensuring minimal interruption to the lives of the families impacted.
"We will rebuild. We will never give up. We never quit," declared Pastor Baer as he reflected on the two decades of congregational life and service that were housed within the church's now charred walls, as reported by Atlanta News First.
