An Illinois lottery player's routine purchase at a local gas station turned into an unexpected $3 million windfall, CBS Chicago reports. The winner, who chose to stay out of the limelight, struck gold with a "$3,000,000 Super Bonus" scratch-off ticket acquired at a Circle K in Channahon, a suburb of Chicago. According to CBS Chicago, the winner said, "still can't believe that she won."
Scratch-off games have long been a favorite of the anonymous victor, and a new one caught her eye. Scratch-off lottery games are my favorite, and my local gas station had a brand-new game on display, so I bought three tickets,
she recounted to CBS Chicago. It wasn't until the third ticket was scratched that the magnitude of her win began to dawn on her. Yet certainty eluded her until the following Monday when she could verify the win.
Once she scanned the ticket at the store, the reality of her newfound wealth left her stunned. The retailer, Circle K located at 26950 W. Eames, will be reveling in a bit of luck of its own, earning a $30,000 seller's bonus, as WGN TV notes.
The $30 scratch-off ticket that led to the hefty prize was launched by the Illinois Lottery in July. So far this year, more than 43 million Instant Tickets have been sold across the state, culminating in over $1.1 billion in prizes to players. Speaking about her plans with the windfall, the winner outlined her priorities to WGN TV, saying she intends to “Invest, remodel the house and travel – exactly in that order.”
