The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert following a series of robberies and aggravated robberies that have occurred in Area Four. According to the official statement, multiple incidents have been reported from September 1 through September 25, where victims have been either threatened with a firearm or led to believe the offenders were armed, before being forced to surrender their possessions. Additionally, in some cases, the offenders physically assaulted the victims, with one incident escalating to the discharge of a firearm, resulting in a superficial head wound.

These crimes, taking place in a public way, seem to be concentrated in specific blocks throughout the neighborhood. While the offenders were often seen wearing dark clothing, basketball shorts, hoodies, and face masks, the police have yet to provide a detailed description. Victims ranged across different times and locations, including the 2800 block of W. Jackson Blvd., the 500 block of S. Albany Ave., and the 300 block of S. Whipple Blvd.

The Chicago Police are advising the community on steps to reduce risk and aid in the apprehension of the culprits. The assailants, described as two to six black male subjects between 5 feet and 6 feet tall with thin builds, should be carefully observed for distinguishing features like scars, limps, acne, or unique dental characteristics. Witnesses are encouraged to gather contact information should they encounter a situation, and to preserve any potential evidence by avoiding its contamination until law enforcement arrives.
