The district's dual language program provides instruction in both English and Spanish across core subjects.
How the Allegations Came to Light
School administrators at Currier Elementary brought the allegations directly to West Chicago police and the DuPage County Children's Advocacy Center on May 14, after learning that a teacher had touched several students inappropriately, per the same account from the state's attorney's office. The Children's Advocacy Center, established in 1987 as the first multidisciplinary unit of its kind in Illinois, conducts joint, child-sensitive interviews alongside the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and police to minimize trauma to young victims during abuse investigations.
DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin publicly praised Currier Elementary and District 33 officials for immediately reporting the allegations, and he emphasized that the charges do not reflect on the rest of the district's teaching staff, per the state's attorney's office. Why Garcia Is Being Held Without Bond
