A 19-year-old man encountered violence late Saturday night, as he fell victim to a robbery and subsequent shooting after leaving a gas station in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood; the incident reported by CBS News took place around 11:39 p.m. near the 1900 block of West 47th Street.
Two unknown male assailants approached the teen after he exited the gas station, one forcibly taking a chain from his neck and the other shooting the victim in the head, FOX 32 Chicago reports that the young man was shot twice and taken to Stroger Hospital where he remains in critical condition, as of the latest updates.
While the Chicago Police Department has not yet made any arrests, detectives from Area 1 are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery and shooting.
