A Clackamas County man has been indicted and arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred near St. Paul in 2023, claiming the lives of two Portland women. The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported that Porfirio Perez Martinez now faces two counts of criminally negligent homicide following a grand jury's decision this past Friday.

An investigation by the authorities discovered that Martinez, who was operating a refrigerated box truck, allegedly failed to stay in his lane and collided with a Buick sedan. The KOIN report detailed that the incident took place on the evening of September 9, 2023, by the intersection of McKay Road Northeast and Case Road Northeast.

The aftermath of the crash was devastating. The driver of the Buick, identified as Lisa Rohrer-Boylan, was proclaimed dead at the scene. Her passenger, Joan Rohrer, suffered critical injuries and was swiftly transported to a local hospital by LifeFlight, where she ultimately passed away, as per KGW.

The driver responsible for the crash, Martinez, incurred non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Newberg Hospital. Nearly a year after the tragic event, the Marion County Grand Jury reviewed the evidence and chose to indict Martinez. According to the KPTV account, he was apprehended and booked into the Marion County Jail on September 6.
