At the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Golf Invitational last Friday, a fox stole the spotlight by snatching golf balls from players at Crystal Highlands Golf Course. The playful incident, which briefly took attention away from the event supporting the JeffCo Deputy Welfare Fund, was captured in photos and shared on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. The pictures show the fox grabbing a ball and running off, as reported by FirstAlert4.
Chasing after the golf balls throughout the day, deputies jokingly issued a notice for the "wanted" fox, suggesting it may have had accomplices involved in the shenanigans. The fox continued to evade capture, much to the amusement and perhaps mild consternation of the players, according to details shared by KSDK. Despite the disruption, the tone remained light-hearted with the sheriff's office labeling the situation as the fox being "on the lam" after taking a golf ball.
Further engaging with the community, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office declared the fox a "Mammal of Interest" in a playful post on their official Facebook page. The post revealed the office's tongue-in-cheek intent to bring the "wily critter" to justice, ensuring the public that its reign of terror over the links would be curtailed. "Rest assured, this wily critter will be found and brought to justice," the sheriff's office quipped in a post gleaned by Facebook.
As deputies playfully searched for the sneaky fox, both participants and spectators enjoyed the unexpected entertainment. Despite the fox’s antics, the main goal of the event—to support the JeffCo Deputy Welfare Fund—remained the focus of the day, even with the fox becoming an unplanned attraction at the charity golf tournament.
